About Me

My philosophy has always been that everyone has the right to sing, use their voice - and have the enjoyment of music in their lives.

My work covers performance, teaching, research, writing and mentoring. I offer 1:1 singing lessons for all ages, genders and abilities. I love helping to build people's confidence through singing. Everybody can sing and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to introduce and encourage singing and music into people's lives. Adopting a therapeutic approach to teaching and strongly emphasising the need for relaxation while singing, I have worked with individuals living with stammering, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, dementia, CFS, musculoskeletal disorders, and a wide range of learning disabilities.

The benefits of singing are endless; both physically and psychologically and I am currently studying for a MA looking at singing for health, with a special focus on stammering, Autism and mental health. I have a strong commitment to developing my skills and knowledge of the human voice and sharing the latest techniques with my students. I also see a number of professional performers, including dancers and music students who come to me for guidance and support with performance study and singing auditions, as well as theory of music and general musicianship. Former students have gained entry into SLP College, Italia Conti, Bird College, UCL, East 15 and many others.

I am fully qualified, licensed and insured for professional performing, teaching and facilitation, with over 20 years’ experience. I sing a variety of genres but my specialism is Jazz and Blues. I dedicate my time to discovering new music to study and share with others. I was in the very first cohort to be trained and registered as a vocal health first aider. I am also a mental health first aider (adult and youth), and hold a degree in Psychology (BSc Hons).

I am incredibly proud to be a Singing for Health Network Ambassador, helping to build the bridge between practice and research. Other professional memberships include:

I hold a fully enhanced DBS Certificate and I am proud to have achieved the ISM Registered Private Teacher Status. This is gained following the ISM collating independent references from students, as well as verifying qualifications. Strongly believing in the therapeutic benefits of music, I am also a qualified Lifemusic practitioner.
